Grades 5 and 6

Learn about some of the First Nations and Métis peoples that allied with the British during the war of 1812 and how they shaped this pivotal moment in Canadian history. Examine how trade, conflict and alliances with Europeans shaped multiple Indigenous identities.

Grades 7 and 8

Learn about the war of 1812 and analyze the impact of this conflict on the many peoples of Upper Canada including the British, French, First Nations and Métis. Use inquiry to interpret primary and secondary sources – and to understand how these sources shape historical narratives.
