Welcome to Nancy Island Historic Site
Nancy Island Historic Site in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, is officially designated as a National Historic Event by Parks Canada. It commemorates the pivotal role of HMS Nancy, a British supply schooner destroyed during the War of 1812, in defending Upper Canada.
The site preserves the ship’s hull and features engaging exhibits that explore the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in protecting Ontario and shaping Canada’s early naval history. As a steward of national heritage, Nancy Island plays a vital role in preserving the legacy of Canada’s wartime past for future generations.

Summer jobs available
We are currently seeking college and university students for the following summer positions:
- Ticket Booth Clerk (Student)
- Historic Interpreter (Student)

Open daily from May 2
Open to the general public 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, October 11. General admission is free and optional guided tours are $5 per person.

At Nancy Island Historic Site, students dive into the dramatic story of HMS Nancy and key events of the War of 1812. Participants explore Canada’s early battles, alliances, and the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in shaping national history.
