Welcome to Nancy Island Historic Site
Nancy Island Historic Site in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, is officially designated as a National Historic Event by Parks Canada. It commemorates the pivotal role of HMS Nancy, a British supply schooner destroyed during the War of 1812, in defending Upper Canada.
The site preserves the ship’s hull and features engaging exhibits that explore the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in protecting Ontario and shaping Canada’s early naval history. As a steward of national heritage, Nancy Island plays a vital role in preserving the legacy of Canada’s wartime past for future generations.

This series complements the Town of Wasaga Beach’s Summer Sets, a free live concert series held Friday nights on the island.

Nancy Island by Lantern Light: Legends of the Nottawasaga
Step into the stories, legends, and history of the Nottawasaga region during this unique lantern-lit evening experience at Nancy Island Historic Site. As dusk settles over the historic site, follow the glow of the Keeper’s Lantern on a guided journey through Indigenous oral traditions, local folklore, historical events, and community stories that have shaped the region for thousands of years. Topics include:
- Origins and legends of the land
- Voyageurs, war, and settlement
- Stories of Wasaga Beach
Pumpkin Patio at Nancy Island
Experience the magic of fall at Nancy Island’s Pumpkin Patio. Gather around cozy campfires, roast marshmallows, decorate pumpkins, and sip on hot apple cider or cocoa. Capture seasonal memories at our pumpkin photo station and discover a variety of festive treats and fall-inspired add-ons available for purchase.

Nancy Island is open to the general public 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sunday, October 11. General admission is free and optional guided tours are $5 per person.
